RIGGED ELECTIONS - POST ELECTION PROTESTS IN BELARUS
Minsk, 22th December 2010: More than 650 citizens of Belarus who have participated in peaceful protest after the election-day have been detained by riot police on December 19th and have been sentenced to up to 15 days in prison in closed court hearings by Minsk District Courts during December 20th and 21st. Another 18 persons – among them seven Presidential candidates, civic activists and journalists - face high criminal charges for “organising mass protest”. The offices of HR Centre Viasna and Charter 97 have been raided, members of Viasna, Belarusian Helsinki Committee and Charter 97 as well as numerous civic activists and journalists have been detained, websites of independent Belarusian civic organisations have been blocked. Berlin, 19th November 2010: On November 18-19 2010 the second Civil Society Forum of the Eastern Partnership was held in Berlin. The forum has brought together more than 200 representativces of civil society organisations of the six Eastern Partnership countries. The saying of civil society representatives in political negotiations between EU and EaP governmental structures should be gradually intensified, a permanent secretariate for the Civil Society Forum seems necessary, EU funding for Eastern Partnership civil society projects should increase siginificantly. Berlin, 15th November 2010: The outcomes of the presidential elections in Belarus on December 19 let not expect any unforeseen results. But the conduct of the elctions and the accordance to national and international law is worth being examined in detail. Warsaw, 2nd November 2010: The Polish-German-Ukrainian conference “Ukraine 2010+ - a change or continuation in relations with the Polish and Germans?” will be held in Warsaw on 16-17 December 2010.
The aim of this periodic event (the conference is held for the sixth time this year) is to present the views of decision-making elites and opinion leaders from Poland and Germany on different aspects of policies towards Ukraine.

SIXTH KIEV DIALOGUE
Kyiv, 30th October 2010: The 6th Kiev Dialogue took place from October 28th until October 30th 2010 in Kiev.
The theme for this year's dialogue was "Corruption in politics, economy and administration - Civic society´s and international Counterstrategies".
BELARUS BETWEEN LOCAL AND PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS
Berlin, 28th June 2010: On the 28th of June, a press conference on the local elections in Belarus with perspectives on the coming presidential elections, and on the situation of human rights in Belarus took place at the Helsinki Foundation in Warsaw.

BELARUS LOCAL ELECTIONS - 25TH APRIL 2010
Minsk, 25th April 2010: On the 25th April 2010, Belarus held local elections. European Exchange, in cooperation with the Human Rights Organisation Viasna and the Belorussian Helsinki Committee, has been reporting regularly on the important developments in Belarus in the run-up to the elections. EUROPEAN EXCHANGE AND GERMAN-RUSSIAN EXCHANGE PUBLISH EU-RUSSIA POSITION PAPER
Brussels, 23th March 2010: The German-Russian Exchange and European Exchange Berlin have developed a position paper “For a New Start in Civil Society Cooperation with Russia”, which has already been signed by a number of European foundations and non-governmental organisations. The signatories appeal to the EU and its member states to make it more straightforward for Russian civil society actors to cooperate with their European partners, and to markedly increase the financial resources available for this key area. The demands include the creation of an EU-Russia Civil Society Forum and visa-free travel for civil society actors.
