FOUNDING MEETING OF THE EU-RUSSIA CIVIL SOCIETY FORUM

Berlin, 1st April 2011: On 28-29 March 2011, 57 representatives of the Russian and EU civil societies came together in Prague for the Founding Meeting of the EU-Russia Civil Society Forum. The aim of the Forum is to increase interaction and cooperation between civil society organisations from across Russia and the EU member states and to promote people to people exchanges. Werner Schulz, MEP of the Greens/EFA and an official observer of the Forum, said to Deutsche Welle „The important thing is to support those forces that are promoting democracy and participation and that are very active in terms their involvement in society”. European Exchange is co-author of the initiative and has, from the very beginning, contributed to the preparation of the EU Russia Forum.
