Berlin, 1st June 2007: Between June and December 2007 the European Exchange has welcomed five bursary holders of the Marion Dönhoff Foundation in Berlin. Layla Ishkhaeva and Margarita Izzhieva from the NGO "Woman's Dignity" in Grozny, Chechen Republic have gone through a job shadowing programme for six months at Xenion, a non-profit organisation which provides psychological help to victims of political persecution and refugees in Berlin. Olga Slyuzar, student of International Relations at Kiev, Ukraine has performed a six-month internship at the European Exchange. Olga Karatsch, leader of the mobement "Nash Dom" (Our House, Witebsk Belarus has profited from the bursary to work on an essay on strategies for regional democratic movement in Belarus. Elena Tonkachova attended the international conference "Kiev Dialogue" in November in Berlin. The bursary holders had the opportunity to attend regular courses of German language and to learn more about the political cand social system in Germany.
